Children = dogs = what can go wrong? See if you can spot the true story in the list below:
A) Child’s foot broken while joy riding on Great Dane
B) Unruly child bites dog, severs his foot
C) Dog brings home severed foot of child
While you’re contemplating the correct answer, please consider this very real safety fact:
There are around 4 million pet dog attacks in the United States every year, and most of these occur against children. About 25 maulings’ turn fatal every year, again, mostly children.
In Northern Alabama, late in 2008, investigators were stunned when a dog brought home the severed foot of a young child. It was all the more surprising because no children had been reported missing in the area. Police checked missing persons reports and conducted forensic tests, hoping to determine the child’s identity. A day-long search by two teams failed to locate the rest of the child’s remains.
