Racism and prejudice are seeing a resurgence in modern society. Yet far too many parents avoid the topic because it makes them uncomfortable, or because they aren’t exactly sure what to say. The resources herein are designed to make the race conversation a whole lot easier.
You shouldn’t assume your children could never exhibit racism or prejudice just because you don’t teach these things yourself. Not only are they around other kids who might model racist ideas, but ALL humans–Black, white, brown, and children included–can all too easily default to group favoritism and prejudice unless they are taught differently. Make sure your kids develop the mental template to resist this tendency.
This free online lesson teaches kids that the idea of “race” is an illusion, and we all belong to the same human family. Recommended for kids ages 7 and up.
