If your kids are in elementary school, ask them if they’d like to create a story about divorce. This can be a fictional story involving imaginary characters, or a non-fictional one focusing around their own life. If they seem interested, tell them you’ll help them.

For an autobiographical story, you can snap and print digital pictures of the different things in their life in order to create a picture book. You can also have them draw artwork themselves or work on scenes together. Then put it together with words, focusing around ways to help kids through divorce, as if they were creating a story to tell another child. Be sure to give the story a happy ending, which allows kids to focus on thoughts about how their own situation might work out in the end.
